Porcelain Veneers
Do you want to improve the look of your teeth and smile with confidence?
Veneers are extremely versatile and can be used to close gaps, align crowding or protruding teeth, close gaps or whiten discoloured teeth.

The Benefits of Veneers
Whether you opt for porcelain or composite veneers (also known as composite bonding), you can experience a wide range of benefits that will enhance the appearance and function of your smile.
- Minimally Invasive Procedure
Veneers often require only a small amount of enamel removal—usually less than a millimetre. This is far less than what is necessary for crowns, allowing you to keep more of your natural tooth structure while still achieving long-lasting, beautiful results. - Highly Customisable & Versatile
Each veneer is custom-made to match the size, shape, and colour of your natural teeth, creating a seamless, harmonious appearance. Whether you need to correct one tooth or transform your entire smile, veneers can provide the perfect solution for a balanced look. - Stain Resistance
Porcelain veneers are resistant to staining from common causes including coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. This means your smile will maintain its bright, vibrant appearance with proper care, even after many years.
How can Veneers help me?

Porcelain Veneers vs Composite Veneers /Bonding
Porcelain Veneers
Crafted from durable dental porcelain, these veneers offer a natural, radiant appearance that closely resembles tooth enamel. They’re highly resistant to stains, making them ideal for long-term cosmetic results.
Composite Veneers – “Composite Bonding”
Made from a tooth-coloured resin, composite veneers are a more affordable and quicker solution, often requiring just one visit for placement. While they may be more suitable for minor adjustments such as chipped edges or small gaps, they still offer impressive cosmetic improvements. They are often used alongside teeth straightening and teeth whitening.
- Both types of veneers can be customized to fit your needs, whether you want a single tooth correction or a full smile makeover.
- Following your consultation, your dentist can provide you with advice as to which option is the most suitable for your specific needs. Find out more on our Composite Bonding page.

Veneers Procedure at Village Dental Practice
Step 1: Consultation & Personalised Treatment Plan
Your journey starts with a comprehensive consultation, where we’ll assess your smile, bite patterns, and facial features to create a tailored treatment plan based on your wants/wishes. This consultation also offers an opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions about your treatment.
Step 2: Temporary Veneers & Trial Smile
After carefully preparing your teeth, we’ll provide you with temporary veneers and a trial smile. These act as a preview of your final result and allow us to fine-tune the fit, shape, and overall aesthetic before finalising your permanent veneers. We use an itero scanner to ensure optimal use of digital dentistry, and avoid having to take impressions!
Step 3: Veneer Placement
Your dentist will either cement your veneers in place if in porcelain or build up your teeth in layers of composite chairside. We may also use a stent and lab made wax up to aid placement of using composite resin.
Caring for Your Veneers
To ensure your veneers remain in top condition, follow these simple care tips:
- Good oral hygiene – Regular brushing and flossing and visits to our dental hygienist.
- Avoid grinding – If you grind or clench your teeth, consider wearing a night guard to protect your veneers.
- Dental Check-ups – Keep up with regular dental check-ups and hygiene visits to monitor the condition of your veneers and address any concerns.
With proper care, your veneers will last for many years, preserving the beauty and functionality of your smile.
Veneers FAQs
Veneers are ideal for individuals with healthy teeth and gums who want to address cosmetic concerns like stains, chips, gaps, or minor misalignments. They are not recommended for those with severe dental issues, such as untreated cavities, gum disease, or poor oral hygiene.
Well cared for porcelain veneers are durable and can last up to 10 years. As with natural teeth, they can chip or break over time and require replacement. Your dentist will advise you on how to look after your veneers following your treatment.
Once placed, veneers should feel very similar to natural teeth. They are thin, custom-made shells designed to fit over your teeth, so they blend in comfortably with your bite. However, some people might initially notice a slight difference in sensation, especially if they have a very sensitive bite.
No, veneers are not reversible. The process of applying veneers often involves removing a small amount of enamel from the teeth to ensure the veneers fit properly, which means they cannot be undone.
The veneer placement process is typically not painful. Local anesthesia is often used to numb the area when preparing the teeth. Some minor sensitivity or discomfort might be experienced after the procedure, but it usually subsides within a few days.
Veneers can correct minor misalignments but are not suitable for fixing major orthodontic problems. If a patient has significant crooked teeth or bite issues, braces or other orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign may be more appropriate.
Typically, two to three appointments are required for veneer treatment. The first appointment involves a consultation and preparation of the teeth, the second is for taking impressions and creating the veneers, and the final appointment is for the fitting of the veneers.
